★★★★★**4.9 / 5** · 56 player reviews

★★★★★"Billed as intermediate and for us that landed dead on, a fair few of the riddles left us stumped a good while, the empty playhouse after a flop is a fun setup a[...](#)nd the dig at the critics tearing it apart gave us a giggle, we'd gladly take on another, the only niggle was the constant page-flipping which wore a bit thin though you settle into it."

Rabia Nawaz

★★★★★"Just escaped with everyone cheering, Dave was great when we got stuck."

Vanessa Lyle

From our archive

★★★★★"Smashing night, Tim walked us through getting everyone online. dont overthink it."

Doreen Marlow

From our archive

★★★★★"Had a right laugh with this one."

Bushra Latif

From our archive

★★★★★"Cracking fun. Will be doing another."

Sylvia Mottram

From our archive

★★★★★"We just about escaped the theatre in the end, with two of us convinced we'd never crack the last code. The whole no cast, no crew set up is a clever idea. Thoro[...](#)ughly enjoyed it."

Shazia Parveen

From our archive

★★★★★"Enjoyed wandering round the empty auditorium and the terrible reviews gag landed well with our lot. Only gripe is one puzzle felt a bit of a leap. The people be[...](#)hind it were dead helpful when we messaged though."

Walter Carrington

From our archive

★★★★★"Did this with the lads of a Friday over a video call and we had a smashing time stranded in that playhouse. We dawdled through it since nothing counts down the [...](#)minutes, which suited us as we kept breaking off for a yarn. We tapped the clue page on the wings section and didnt feel daft about it. My one moan is the navigation, you're endlessly tapping back or forward and it's easy to lose your spot. Dave pinged a reply straight back when I wrote in though, no faulting that. Loved the swipe at the critics panning the show."

Ravinder Bhatti

From our archive

★★★★★"We did this for a work do, all of us joining from home, and it was a belting way to break up the week. Good fun once you've got the knack of paging back and for[...](#)th."

Priti Varma

From our archive

★★★★★"Great laugh, the team replied to my email so quickly i was amazed."

Sukhdeep Dhaliwal

From our archive

★★★★★"Good fun, just wish it was a little longer, the team were lovely"

Amrit Sahota

From our archive

★★★★"Decent fun but a couple of puzzles dragged a bit."

Tahir Mirza

From our archive

★★★★★"Our second crack at one of these and it held up nicely. We had the whole clan on Google Meet for my nan's do and the abandoned playhouse really fit the mood. It[...](#) ran us close to two hours with everybody chipping in at once, but not a word of complaint. The one snag is you're forever jumping between pages and I mislaid my spot a time or two. Dave fired back an answer to my daft question in no time as well, full marks for that."

Yasmin Choudhry

From our archive

★★★★★"Brilliant fun, and Dave was a star when we emailed for help."

Denise Crowther

From our archive

★★★★"Under a tenner split six ways, decent for a night in. You're shut in a theatre after a show bound for savage write-ups, and the ticket-booth cipher sent us to t[...](#)he clue page twice. Enjoyed it, bar one leap that baffled me even after."

Kabir Sheikh

From our archive

★★★★★"Good laugh, well worth it."

Maurice Tattersall

From our archive

★★★★★"Cracking way to fill an evening with the gang dialled in."

Lorraine Maddison

From our archive

★★★★"Got the gang on a Teams call and ended up locked backstage after the imaginary opening night bombed. The dressing-room mirror riddle stumped us till we asked fo[...](#)r a steer, and Tim mailed back a clear pointer. One answer felt a stretch, but good laugh."

Ronald Garside

From our archive

★★★★★"Took us a touch over an hour and a half to find our way out of the theatre. The bit where you're trying to escape the stage was my favourite. Really enjoyed it."

Phyllis Ramsden

From our archive

★★★★"Gave this a whirl with the office lot just before Christmas, all dialled in from our kitchens. The deserted theatre and the joke about the show flopping had us [...](#)in stitches. We'd be game for another, mind a couple of riddles trod ground we'd covered."

Cyril Heywood

From our archive

★★★★★"Picked this as a step up from a beginner room and the intermediate billing felt right. Loved piecing the props together in the deserted stalls as the gag about [...](#)the cast fleeing terrible reviews played out. Whoever runs it answered a query quickly. Smashing."

Leonard Caswell

From our archive

★★★★★"Ran us close on two hours but we made it out. Only bugbear is all that flicking from page to page, a front menu would spare a load of bother. Still, properly go[...](#)od fun."

Gurpreet Mann

From our archive

★★★★★"Good fun though we definately didn't finish in one sitting."

Sharon Plummer

From our archive

★★★★"Roped the book group into this one for our autumn get-together, everyone joining from their own front rooms. Being stranded in the playhouse after curtain-down [...](#)was a cracking idea and rooting through the dressing rooms tickled us. We leant on the clue page twice when the safe combination by the box office had us beat, and the people running it sorted our query without any drama. Fun, though one or two answers only made sense once we'd read the explanation."

Norma Beckett

From our archive

★★★★★"good fun this. We saved it for a lazy Sunday and liked that nothing's racing you along, so we could potter and brew up partway through. Being shut in the playho[...](#)use made a lovely change of scene. The thing that nettled me was forever tapping between pages to move round, a proper menu would help. Dave pinged back fast when one bit had us beat though, real help, so a fine evening all told."

Junaid Tariq

From our archive

★★★★★"Such good value for a whole group of us, under a tenner between five. The theatre setting was great and the stage puzzles kept us guessing. Brilliant night."

Tracey Galloway

From our archive

★★★★★"So much fun, chuffed we tried it"

Mandy Threlfall

From our archive

★★★★★"Picked this up on a whim for a cosy night and it kept the four of us occupied for ages. Being marooned in the playhouse once the curtain drops is a clever setup[...](#), and the running joke about the critics savaging the show had us grinning. We didn't crack it in one sitting and left the final reel for over breakfast. The fiddly part is jumping between the pages, you can mislay where you'd got to. The team were dead good when I sent a message though."

Audrey Linton

From our archive

★★★★★"Sorted this out for the wife's birthday with the grandkids beaming in from up north. The shut-in playhouse tale was a hit with every age round the table. Belter[...](#) of a night."

Naveed Aziz

From our archive

★★★★★"Put this on for my daughter's birthday with a handful of us logging in, and we got out to a fair bit of whooping. Tim sorted us in no time when we tied ourselve[...](#)s in knots over email. Smashing night."

Salma Yousaf

From our archive

★★★★★"First ever virtual escape room experience - a night at the theatre - very enjoyable and a great way to spend a while on a lockdown birthday. Thank you"

Laura Addison

From our archive

★★★★★"Tried 'A Night at the Theatre' over half term with some teacher friends. Great way to spend an afternoon in lockdown! Tricky but we got there in the end! Took u[...](#)s just over 2hrs."

Evee Cooper

From our archive

★★★★★"Such a good price and cleverly designed online escape rooms (seems like they're using google forms!). It reminded me of the Choose Your Own Adventure books I us[...](#)ed to read and love as a kid. I purchased to do the Theatre one with my best friend for her birthday. Not gonna lie, we used the hints a few times... a few of the clues were way too complicated for me to get. But we had a great time and ultimately we escaped!"

Elissa Weinzimmer

From our archive

★★★★★"We played the Night at the Theatre escape room on NYE & really enjoyed it! A great way to inject a bit of fun & something different into another evening[...](#) in lockdown. I would thoroughly recommend it and for a really good price too. We’ll definitely be trying out one of your other rooms soon."

Clare Gilbert

From our archive

★★★★★"We've played night at the theatre and finished it tonight. It took us 2 Saturday evenings to complete but as a family scattered around the country we thoroughly[...](#) enjoyed it! thank you!!! we'll definitely be doing another one but maybe we'll start on a beginner one next time thanks again."

Leigh Tink Abbott

From our archive

★★★★★"Played A Night at the Theatre, challenging but good fun. Would highly recommend and look forward to the next game."

Karen McIntosh

From our archive

★★★★★"We played a night at the theatre for my husbands birthday this week (we are in lockdown abroad) and played with my parents on zoom in the UK. We have been to ma[...](#)ny escape rooms in person and we weren't sure what to expect but this is absolutely brilliant and we spent over 2 hours trying to work out the clues, we will definitely be signing up to do some more!"

Zoë Sages

From our archive

★★★★★"So well put together! I've done the 'Lockdown Breakout' and 'A Night at the Theatre' so far and both are highly recommended!"

Sophie Boyce

From our archive

★★★★★"We are big escape room fans and have been really missing visiting them during lockdown. Some friends bought us the Night at the Theatre online room a few weeks [...](#)ago and we all had a brilliant evening together over Zoom working out the various puzzles. We all enjoyed it so much that we decided to have a go at Escape Fest this evening. Again, we all very much enjoyed the game, this one was really quite tricky and took us most of the evening but we got there in the end! The price is very reasonable at £8 per room and although the Google form format is very simple it does work well. We appreciate that Dave has only created these online rooms as a bit of a hobby but some of the puzzles are fiendish in their complexity! Keep up the good work Dave, we are going for our Genius hats next with Space Race!"

Jason Clover

From our archive

★★★★★"Had a blast playing through the “night at the theatre’. Worked brilliantly with screen share through zoom. It feels great when you crack a particularly tough pu[...](#)zzle. Really good playing through as a team. If your weekly pub quiz is getting stale, this is the ideal panacea."

Benjamin Southworth

From our archive

★★★★★"We did the escape room 'A Night At the Theatre'. It's brilliant. Don't be misled into thinking this is going to be quick and easy. When you first start the esca[...](#)pe room, it looks deceptively simple. The familiar web form interface gave us an unfounded sense of overconfidence, but this escape room provided enough head-scratching to keep us occupied for a good hour and a half. Thankfully, there's a well-constructed 'hints and tips' page, which we referred to a couple of times ju The puzzles are well devised, and there are a variety of skills required to figure out the codes needed. We found it helpful to open a Word document so we could copy and paste evidence we found as we moved around. It made for easier reference later in the game, and also provided a place to jot down possible clues and codes. Thanks so much for a great experience. We can't wait to try another!"

Phil Le Cheminant

From our archive

★★★★★"What a great idea this is. I did 'A Night at the Theatre' room with my family via Zoom and it certainly kept us busy! This kept us all entertained and talking f[...](#)or hours. I have already planned to try more rooms with my friends! Also shoutout to the creator who was very easy to get in contact with and replied very quickly. Would highly recommend as a replacement of Saturday Quiz nights! Thank you"

Steph Kerr

From our archive

★★★★★"We have just completed 'A Night at the Theatre' and we thoroughly enjoyed getting out through the stage door. This was a very welcome distraction from real 'loc[...](#)kdown' and a great way to play with our daughter who lives a good 6 hours away. We now plan to arrange another session with a different escape room with our daughter in Australia, and are all looking forward to it. This is a great way to spend an evening together and make no mistake - escaping the theatre today was a challenge for us! Thanks Dave for putting this together, and we look forward to taking part in future escape rooms."
